  • November 1, 2009 – Interview Critique Day, Thursday, November 12, 2009, in the Michel Student Center.
    The following well-known companies have been invited to send volunteers to interview our students: Accenture, Country Financial, ADM, Discover, Harris Corporation and others. Each student will spend 30 minutes with the employer volunteers-20 minutes responding to interview questions and 10 minutes receiving feedback. Appropriate interview attire is expected. Interested students should send an email to Sandy McDermott at sandymc@bradley.edu with their choice of interview times (4:30-5:30 or 5:30-6:30) and a resume attached by November 4th (Sandy extended the deadline for us and there are still a few slots available). Additional information will be sent to students upon registration.
  • November 1, 2009 – Monday afternoon November 9th in BR170: Want to vent? Want to brag?
    All CS/IS studenst are welcome to meet with site reviewers (APR team) who are evaluating our department and provide feedback/suggestions/etc. 3:30-4:30 p.m. -- APR team meets with UNDERGRADUATE CS/IS students, and at 4:30-5:30 p.m. - with GRADUATE CS/IS students. Two of the reviewers are from different universities and two reviewers are from other departments at Bradley. These reviewers are evaluating the Department of Computer Science & Information Systems (our department gets reviewed every 6 or so years and the review is called an Academic Program Review). This is your opportunity to share your opinions about how to improve the department – so don’t miss the opportunity! Faculty members will not be present. Just students and the reviewers!

  • October 27, 2009 – Thursday November 12th at noon in BR170
    Thursday November 12th at noon in BR170 – ACM sponsored talk “NSF-RUI at Notre Dame and going to Panama for the Capstone Project” by Mark Overholt. Everyone is invited - No food will be provided but feel free to bring your own lunch.

  • October 12, 2009 – Oct 15, 2009 - Graduate School Fair (for undergraduate students)
    GRADUATE SCHOOL FAIR (Thursday, October 15, Noon to 3:30 p.m., Michel Student Center, Ballroom and Foyer). To date, 78 schools/programs have registered for the event making this the largest graduate school fair in Bradley’s history! To view the list of schools, download the event handout, and view table locations, please visit http://explore.bradley.edu/scc/ (look in the shaded column on the right side of the page). Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and Alumni are encouraged to attend in order to meet admissions representatives, ask questions (financial aid, application procedures, etc.), and pick up materials.
  • October 8, 2009 – January-2010 and Spring-2010 Course Registration begins on October 29, 2009
    Registration for January-2010 Interim and Spring-2010 Semester courses begins on October 29, 2009. Please visit 2009-2010 Academic Year section at the CS/IS Department Web site at https://cs.bradley.edu/schedules_2009_2010.shtml for a list of CS and CIS courses to be avalaible during January-2010 and Spring-2010.
  • October 8, 2009 – OLD Curriculum: Fall-2009 M.S. Comprehensive Exam
    Students graduating with the OLD curriculum can take between 4 and 6 exams, and only 4 exams with the highest scores will be counted. The comprehensive examination is a WRITTEN examination for all students. Each examination will be graded on a 100 point basis and a total passing will be 60% (or 240 points). Each student will take between 4 (minimum) and 6 (maximum) examinations in 2 days, i.e. 2 or 3 exams on Saturday Oct 31, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM, Br160), and 2 or 3 exams on Sunday Nov 1, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM, Br160). Please contact Dr. Young Park (Br175, phone: 309 677 2457) or Dr. Steven Dolins (Br185, phone: 309 677 3284) in case you have any questions regarding the Fall-2009 M.S. comprehensive examination for the OLD graduation requirements.
  • October 8, 2009 – NEW curriculum: Fall-2009 M.S. Comprehensive Exam
    Students graduating with the NEW curriculum will take only 4 exams - one in each core area. The core consists of 4 pairs of courses; each student must take 1 course from each pair below for a total of 4 courses. It may happen that many current students will take the course under the OLD number. The core pairs (with the old course number if appropriate) are: 1) CS 590 (OLD CS 615) OR CS 591 (a new course); 2) CS 561 (OLD CS 521) OR CS 670 (OLD CS 609); 3) CS 520 (OLD CS 550) OR CS 625 (OLD CS 519); 4) CS 514 (OLD CS 514) OR CS 612 (OLD CS 682). The comprehensive examination is a WRITTEN examination for all students.   • September 15, 2009 – M.S. Comprehensive Exam -- Sat Oct 31 and Sun Nov 1, 2009
    Fall-2009 M.S. comprehensive exam is scheduled for Saturday October 31, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM, Br160) and Sunday November 1, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM, Br160). Please stop by CS/IS Department Office (Br176) and sign in for the exams. In case of any questions regarding M.S. comprehensive exam, please contact Dr. Young Park (Br175, phone: 309 677 2457).
  • September 1, 2009 – Attention, all CS/IS Students!
    If you are an undergraduate or graduate CS/IS student who enrolled at Bradley prior to Fall 2009 and you are switching to the new CS curriculum, then please make sure you inform your advisor.
  • August 26, 2009 – Attention, Advisors!
    Advisors are responsible for notifying the Registrar’s Office that a student (who enrolled under the old curriculum) intends to change to the new curriculum by sending an email to Angela Butler.
  • August 26, 2009 – ACM Computer Science Club and Video Game Design Club meetings
    Initial meeting will be held on Thursday, Sep 3, 2009 at 6:30 PM in Br170. Topics to be discussed: objectives, specialties, future projects, production sessions, etc.
  • May 6, 2009 – Study Day Pizza Party
    The Spring-2009 Study Day CS/IS Department Pizza Party will be held on May 6, 2009 at 12:30 PM in Br170. All CS and CIS students are welcome.
  • April 4-5, 2009 – Spring-2009 M.S. Comprehensive Exam
    April 4, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM): CS program -- CS503/CS615, CS550/CS643, CS609; CIS program: CS609, CIS588. April 5, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM): CS program: CS518, CS519, CS682; CIS program: CIS607, CIS608. The framework of the exam: 4 best (top) scores will count out of 6.
  • February 25, 2009 – Dr. Arnold Patton, CS/IS Assistant Professor, is a member of a project team that has been awarded with the $ 850,000 Federal Grant.
    Dr. John Engdahl, Dr. Andy Chiou, Dr. Julie Reyer, Dr. Arnold Patton, Dr. Robert Podlasek and Dr. Dean Kim – faculty of the colleges of Engineering and Technology and Liberal Arts and Sciences at Bradley University, and collaborators from the Peoria medical community have been awarded with the $850,000 federal grant that will be used to develop better medical training simulators. Those devices will be used to train emergency responders to more quickly diagnose and treat medical conditions in our streets and on the battlefield. The grant was secured from the U.S. Army.
  • February 1, 2009 – Computer Gaming Technology Track at the CS/IS Department
    Starting 2009-2010 academic year the Department will offer a series of 3 interrelated courses in Computer Gaming Technology area. This series includes the following 3 courses: 1) CIS 551 “Computer Game Programming, Development and Modification” course (will be offered the first time during Fall-2009 semester as CS412/CS610 "Topics" class), 2) CIS 550 (former CS 535) “Computer Graphics” course (a modified course will be offered the first time in Spring-2010 semester), and 3) CIS 552 “Computer Game Design” course.   • February 1, 2009 – Software and Computer Network Security Technology Track at the CS/IS Department
    Starting 2009-2010 academic year the Department will offer a series of 3 interrelated courses in Software and Computer Network Security Technology area. This series includes the following 3 courses: 1) CIS 595 “Software and Web Applications Security” course (will be offered the first time as CS412/CS610 "Topics" class in Spring-2010), 2) CIS 535 “Computer Networks and System Security” course (will be offered the first time as CS412/CS610 "Topics" class in Spring-2010), and 3) CIS 515 “Applied Cryptography” course.   • January 23, 2009New CS Undergraduate and Graduate Curricula
    From Fall-2009 semester the Department will offer new Computer Science undergraduate and graduate curricula. For multiple details please visit CS/IS Department web site or CS/IS Curriculum Committee web site at http://www.interlabs.bradley.edu/cc. During Spring-2009 semester current CS and CIS majors should meet advisors, make a personal decision regarding graduating requirements to follow - new or old ones, and inform the CS/IS Department Chair (Br185) and CS/IS Office (Br176) about his or her personal decision.
