More information

Dr. Haghighi's research interests include cryptography and crypto-analysis as well as sequential and parallel algorithms. He has received several grants including a recent Caterpillar Faculty Fellowship grant to investigate the security of cryptosystems on the World Wide Web. As a result of his diligent work, the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems was affiliated with the world-renowned NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications). This affiliation has resulted in practical experiences for his students in the quest to produce real world applications.

Dr. Haghighi believes the cornerstone of a student's education includes a deep, practical knowledge of programming. Congruent to this belief, he has focused on teaching crucial programming and data structures with a focus on object orientation.

Over the years of supervision and collaboration with students, he and his students have produced projects including "Improving Java Security," "Study of New Symmetric Cryptosystems," "Employee Vacation Time Tracking Systems," and "Distributed Computing Environments."
