NEW CS/IS Graduate Curriculum: Fall-2009 M.S. Comprehensive Exam

1) Students graduating with the NEW curriculum will take only 4 exams - one in each core area. The core consists of 4 pairs of courses; each student must take 1 course from each pair below for a total of 4 courses. It may happen that many current students will take the course under the OLD number. The core pairs (with the old course number if appropriate) are: 1) CS 590 (OLD CS 615) OR CS 591 (a new course); 2) CS 561 (OLD CS 521) OR CS 670 (OLD CS 609); 3) CS 520 (OLD CS 550) OR CS 625 (OLD CS 519); 4) CS 514 (OLD CS 514) OR CS 612 (OLD CS 682).

2) The comprehensive examination is a WRITTEN examination for all students.

3) Exams will be graded on a 100 point basis and passing will be 60% (or 240 points).

4) Each student will take a total of 4 exams in 2 days, i.e. 2 exams on Saturday Oct 31, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM, Br160), and 2 exams on Sunday Nov 1, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM, Br160).

OLD CS/IS Graduate Curriculum: Fall-2009 M.S. Comprehensive Exam

1) Students graduating with the OLD curriculum can take between 4 and 6 exams, and only 4 exams with the highest scores will be counted.

2) The comprehensive examination is a WRITTEN examination for all students.

3) Each examination will be graded on a 100 point basis and a total passing will be 60% (or 240 points).

4) Each student will take between 4 (minimum) and 6 (maximum) examinations in 2 days, i.e. 2 or 3 exams on Saturday Oct 31, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM, Br160), and 2 or 3 exams on Sunday Nov 1, 2009 (1:00 - 4:00 PM, Br160).
